European Day of Jewish Culture 2013
Subject Matter: Jewish Heritage and Nature
September 29th 2013

On September 29th 2013, this year’s edition of the EDJC will evolve around “Jewish Heritage and Nature”.
The relation between Judaism and Nature is manifold, on many different levels.
In order to deepen the understanding of this subject, we will present you over the next months, a series of articles, bibliographic references and similar.
To start, we suggest the following article (in Italian language) “L’ebraismo e la Natura“, by Giorgio Israel, which can be downloaded here, and which deals with the challenges environmentalism represents for the religions of the Book, in particular Judaism.
Giorgio Israel is professor for the history of Mathematics at the “La Spienza” University of Rome, and has published a wide range of books and scientific articles, as well as given numerous conferences and lectures in Italy and abroad.
The relation between Judaism and Nature is manifold, on many different levels, which means that nature as the subject matter for this 14th edition of the European Day of Jewish Culture offers a wealth of possibilities to explore this relationship and its different aspects. We invite you to share your views, ideas, opinions and consideration on this subject with us, either by mail or via facebook or twitter.
Anybody, either public or private associations, institutions, or collectives, wishing to join in the celebration of the EDJC by organizing one or several activities are welcome to participate.
Further information about taking part in the event will be available on this website shortly, or can be requested at aepj@jewisheritage.org
In the meantime, we still await your own views, ideas, opinions and considerations on this subject, either by mail or via facebook or twitter, to be shared with us.
