Hrade Kralove Synagogue

Completed in 1905 and built as replacement for an earlier chapel, Hrade Kralove Synagogue is one of Prague’s most instantly recognisable buildings and an icon of Jewish Heritage in Europe. Architect Vaclav Weinzettel fused elements of oriental design into an Art Nouveau design and the result is a powerful architectural statement.

Consecrated in 1905, the building has had a remarkable and varied history including, between 1960 and 2007, being home to the university library. 2007 saw the restoration of the building as a place of worship.
