The AEPJ participates in the Seminar "Cultural Heritage as Recourse for Development" in Kharkiv

Presentation of the CoE Cultural Routes programme in Ukraine

This past Thursday, the international seminar "Cultural Heritage as Recourse for Development. Opportunities within the European Programs" was held in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

The objective of the seminar was to create bridges between different European initiatives and heritage projects in Ukraine, through collaborations in different areas. A wide range of institutional representatives from different municipalities and councils of Ukraine participated, including the Minister of Culture,Yevhen Nyschuk. A delegation of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe attended the seminar with the aim of creating synergies and partnerships with Ukrainian initiatives. Representatives of the following routes: AEPJ, ATRIUM, Via Regia and European Rock Art Trails, presented their projects, as well as Stefano Dominoni, director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes and Alfredo Jomantas, chair of the Governing Board of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. Likewise, Franscec Pla, from the Secretariat of the Council of Europe, presented the framework that the Council has developed in recent decades in terms of heritage work throughout Europe.

On the part of the AEPJ, Victor Sorenssen, presented the different projects of Jewish heritage that are being carried out by the 14 members of the AEPJ, as well as the ongoing projects of the European Days of Jewish Culture and the European Route of Jewish Heritage. The seminar in terms of establishing new contacts and potential partners was very useful and we hope to start working soon in this country, whose potential in regard to Jewish heritage is enormous. We thank the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine for their invitation, we will be delighted to help continue building bridges.
